Park City is an absolutely wonderful destination for the entire family. Kids and adults alike will love the variety of outdoor adventures in Park City. There is never a lack of things to do here, the problem is always choosing between so many wonderful options. Whether you’re visiting Park City with preschoolers or tweens, you’ll find something for everyone here. The ideas that I’m sharing below are all activities that we love and are perfect for kids ages 12 and under.

Deer Valley Summer Adventure Camps

Whether you have one day or a few weeks, the summer camps at Deer Valley Resort are perfectly designed for active kids. While at camp, kids will enjoy activities like hiking, mountain biking, swimming, scavenger hunts, and crafts. Kids are separated by age, so it’s a great place to hang out for the day with lots of other kids their own ages. Older kids can enjoy a weekly excursion with activities like sailing, paddle boarding, and bike lessons. These Park City summer camps are designed to cater to age groups from 2 months to age 12. Deer Valley summer adventure camps are a great option if parents need some time to themselves, but want to make sure that their kids are having a great adventure at the same time.

Park City Mountain Adventure Park

Park City Mountain is open for business this summer and has some incredible activities that kids will love. The mountain adventure park is open from May 28-September 6, starting at 10 am daily. Park City Mountain is a great place to take the kids on adventures since it’s close to downtown, yet you still get a full mountain feel, since you’re literally on the mountain. We love a quick stop at the adventure park before an evening out downtown.

Alpine Coaster

If you have kids who love speed, they’ll absolutely love riding down the alpine coaster for you. It’s basically a roller coaster through the forest, and it’s an absolute blast. If you’ve got a kid who loves speed and an adrenaline rush, they’ll love the alpine coaster. Kids who are 38”-53” must ride with an adult.

Alpine Slide

The Park City alpine slide is one that your kids won’t soon forget. We love that the track has a variety of turns and steepnesses so that you can easily control your speed to go as fast or slow as you want. Kids who are 35”-47” inches are required to ride with a driver over the age of 16.

Paddleboarding and Floating Trampolines at Rockport State Park

When warm weather hits the high altitude of Park City, one of the best things to do is to head for the water. We love taking the kids to Rockport State Park because it’s got miles of easily accessible shoreline and it’s significantly less crowded than nearby Jordanelle Reservoir. The Marina at Rockport rents SUP boards where the kids can spend some time learning to paddleboard with gorgeous mountain views in the background. Once they get tired, hang onto that paddleboard for a while so mom and dad can enjoy some paddle time, while the kids play on the beach. If you’re planning on staying at Rockport for the whole day, I highly recommend renting out one of the docks with a floating trampoline!

Adventure Sports Lessons at Woodward

If your kids are over age 7, they will absolutely LOVE visiting Woodward Park City. The entire complex is designed around action sports for kids and helping them to develop their skills. Our kids have taken all sorts of classes there and have always walked away with increased confidence and better sports skills. There really is something for everyone with classes on skateboarding, parkour, trampoline, scootering, biking, and more. Group lessons start at $20/hour and regularly fill up, so make sure to reserve your time slot in advance.

Utah Olympic Park Extreme Sports

Utah Olympic Park is sure to leave your kids on cloud 9 after tackling difficult obstacles and being inspired by the Olympic tradition that it’s built on. This season, your best value is to buy a gold pass session, which gives you access to the alpine slide, extreme tubing, several different ropes courses, and the zipline. Our favorite for younger kids is the Discovery Ropes Course, which was perfect for our 5-year-old, while our 7 and 10-year-olds loved the thrill and height of the Canyon Adventure ropes course. Since there are so many different activities at the Utah Olympic Park, this is also a great place for multiple generations (we have taken the grandparents and I think they loved it just as much as the kids).

While you’re at the Utah Olympic Park, make sure to head inside and check out the ski museum and Olympic museum, which are both packed full of fun memorabilia and interesting stories.

Dog Sled Safari

Do you have an animal lover in your family?  Then they’ll absolutely LOVE the Dog Sled Safari at Luna Lobos. The whole culture of Luna Lobos is geared to be engaging to kids, so it’s all very hands-on and educational. During the safari, you’ll learn all about sled dogs, how dog sledding works, and then you’ll get to enjoy a motorized ranch safari while the sled dogs run along with you. I took my daughter there last year and her visit to Luna Lobos is still one of her favorite things that she’s ever done in Park City. This is the perfect unique adventure activity for kids in Park City.

Mountain Biking with Kids

If your kids like to bike then they are absolutely going to LOVE Park City. The area has one of the most well-developed trail systems in all of Utah and there are some fantastic mountain bike areas for kids. If your kids are new to mountain biking, start at Trailside Park. This area is a bike skills park with several short loops for different ability levels. Start on the pump tracks if your kids are new to riding on dirt, and then progress to the green circle trails. This is the best place in Park City to introduce your kids to mountain biking because the loops are short, but very well developed, so kids get a good sense of how to ride on a mountain bike trail, without committing to a really long ride. As a huge bonus, there is an amazing playground at Trailside Park as well as a covered pavilion that is perfect for family picnics.

Whatever you choose to do on your visit to Park City with kids, they’ll walk away from your trip with amazing adventure memories and exciting stories to tell all their friends back at home.
